Welcome Coin Collectors New and Experienced

Hi! This is Sev and I'm starting this blog as a way to communcate with other coin collectors amateur and professional on the dealings with coin grading. I have been a colllector for two years and am an ANA member. This site is intended only for discussion and opinion and in no way am I giving advice on sure things in the coin world, otherwise known as Numismatics!! This market, like any other market on the planet, has its ups and downs and is never a sure thing.

My hope here is to post pictures of graded coins and have discussions about the grade and any agreements or disagreements we may have about a coins grade or status. This I hope will especially help the numophytes in their quest to understand better the aspects of coin grading and to inform them beforehand on the way to select good coins with good eye appeal.

My biggest mistakes in coin collecting as a beginner were to buy coins that were raw and misgrade them thus losing a bit of money right away. I then decided to purchase the ANA's book on coin grading and was pleased to learn some of the ins and outs of grading but I was displeased
with the lack of solid examples. As some of you well know, there are some MS-64's that should be 65's and vice versa. By posting and discussing our coins here, perhaps we can get an idea of whether or not to send a coin for an upgrade, thereby saving ourselves some money in the event that majority of opinions disagree with our own.
As a rule i recommend that if you send a coin you wish to be posted DO NOT HAVE THE SERIAL NUMBERS DISPLAYED ON THE COIN!! On ANACS,PCGS,NGC, and ICG coins there are serial numbers that appear on the front. I recommend you photoshop those out as counterfeit holders have been found on Ebay and such because they duplicate the numbers posted in pictures and make them to appear as the real thing!!

As this is my first post there will not be a picture but I will post some of my own coins soon! I hope that the new numismatists will take this blog as a chance to learn and enjoy the hobby of numismatics!
